Channeling Her Inner Einstein

This is one of Einstein's most famously silly pictures. I think this is one that made me have a little place in my heart for him. To be brilliant and goofy all at once, what a great combination!

Whitney has started channeling her inner Einstein while she plays volleyball. None of us can remember when it started, but it has become her signature look. Take a peak...

We have more with the tongue out, but we don't want to give her a complex!

No tongue out in this picture, but this is too cool! Nice photo Uncle Steve!

That's my girl, playing hard in Minnesota at the Northern Lights tournament.

Her Norco 13 Blue season has come to an end today. She had a great time playing her first year of club volleyball. We had a lot of fun driving all over the Front Range and flying to Minnesota. What a year of learning and growing as a player. The friendships with her teammates and memories will last a lifetime. We are sad to see it end, but know more great volleyball is to come!

We love you Whitney girl! You are our favorite girl to watch on the court. Cheering for you and seeing you growing into the athlete and young lady God has designed you to be, makes my heart happy.

True or False?

At lunch today Scott decided it would be fun to play a game he called True or False? Here is how it played out...

True or False? Mom was a cheerleader in elementary school? A loud resounding false! Thank goodness.

True or False? I played basketball in March Madness. The kids looked slightly confused, then all said false. Wrong, it was true. He played division 2 ball and was in the top 32 or something... let the story go longer he might be in the final four :)

Here's the deal, the game made me look a little foolish. First of all, cheer leading? Really, I'm so not that girl. I actually went to cheer leading tryouts in college for fun (my roommate and I thought we were hilarious). Well, joke was on us. They were serious girls who actually made it look like a sport... sort of. He asked some other stellar questions about me and topped it with: True or false? Mom got fired from a job for stealing a tv?  TRUE!! Tennison looked at me in shock and awe. With a huge smile on his face he says, "I LOVE this family." Apparently stealing a tv looks awesome in a 9 year olds mind. FACT: I did not steal a tv, but I did get fired. Lame reason: missed too much work for a missions trip & came home with pneumonia, so they fired me. Since it was a lame reason I've embellished the story saying I stole a tv... who knew it would make me so cool?!

He went on to ask about some other embarrasing things, but they sure got to know us. He ended with, Have I ever been arrested? The kids eyes about popped out of their heads when he admitted to this. He was 13 and jimmy rigged an arcade game to play free. The guy called the cops, was "arrested", and went to court. "Did you go to juvy?", asked a very interested Tennison. Nope.

He never did get around to telling the story of the two of us getting busted hopping a fence to go swimming in college. Long story, short: We had to go to court and do community service hours. Get this?! Me teaching Sunday School counted as community service. Real criminals.

I plan on making more mistakes in my lifetime...
